Office of Chief Operating Officer-Water Utility
DUTIES:
This position exists to foster and maintain positive relations with
neighbors of water utility facilities, particularly the District’s three
water treatment plants. The employee will perform a variety of public
outreach and community relations activities for the distribution of
information regarding District operations, policies and procedures; work
with neighborhood communities, businesses and civic leaders to assure
their understanding of District policies and operations; manage
communication logs, conduct surveys and other data gathering techniques
to develop a clear understanding of neighborhood needs, expectations and
concerns; and maintain an in-depth knowledge of the District’s water
utility facilities, their purpose and value to the community. The
employee will serve as the primary point of contact for neighbors of
water utility facilities; facilitate and make presentations at public
meetings; plan, organize and conduct tours of water utility facilities;
and serve as spokesperson to media representatives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience: Two years of experience in public relations, public
information, community relations, or outreach activities equivalent to
the Public Information Representative I level (or a total of three years
of experience) and Training: Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an
accredited college or university with major course work in
communications, journalism, public relations, education, or a related
field. Directly related experience may be substituted for the college
requirement on the basis of one and one-half years of experience for one
year of education to a maximum of four years.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Possession of a valid California driver’s license is required. Prior to
appointment, candidates will be required to successfully complete a
medical examination.
SALARY:
$6,328.40 - $7,709.87 per month - Based on a five-step salary plan.
Includes PERS (Public Employees’ Retirement System) Member Contribution
of 7.407%
