Job Description: The Development Director is responsible
for managing and implementing all fundraising activities for the organization,
to maintain and strengthen a diverse funding base to achieve an organizational
budget of 2.2 to 3 million in 2007 and increasing to 4 million in 2008.
Reports to: CEO
Responsibilities:
Fundraising
• Designs, implements and manages all fundraising activities.
• Develops strategic and donor development multi year fundraising plan
• Conducts funder research and strategic donor cultivation, including individual
donors, corporations, foundations and government agencies.
• Maintains contact with foundations and government agencies.
• Develops grant proposals and reports for corporations, foundations and government
agencies
• Work with program staff to develop programs, communicate and monitor grant
deliverables.
• Develops and implements fundraising events including Annual Fundraising Gala
and donor cultivation events
• Manages donor relations and recognition activities
Leadership/Board
Relations
• Participates in strategic planning activity with senior staff and Board
• Functions as member of leadership team working across departments
• Works with Development Committee of the Board to develop strategies to initiate
and meet aggressive fundraising goals
• Assumes responsibility for all Development reports to the Board
• Assists the Board with recommending and researching potential new members
Public Relations and Marketing
• Creates and implements a donor communication and promotional plan
Development
Department Infrastructure
• Creates systems to support all Development projects and operations
• Supervises creation and maintenance of Development calendar
• Conducts development research activities
• Oversees the management of databases and all records, files and donation processing
Personnel Supervision
• Supervises Development Coordinator/Development Assistant
• Manages consultants and volunteers for events and other activities as needed
Experience/Skills:
• Proven track record in raising funds and experience
and success in donor cultivation including corporations, foundations, government
agencies and individuals
• Demonstrated ability in strategic relationship building
Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills
Ability to work effectively in diverse communities
• Demonstrated excellence in
writing clearly, quickly and persuasively
• Experience in developing and maintaining productive
working relationships with staff and Board members
• Able to set clear priorities and
handle multiple functions and deadlines simultaneously. Flexibility, quick-thinking
and excellent time-management skills
• Ability and availability
to represent Renaissance at community events, during day, evening and weekends
as needed.
• Experience in managing
and fundraising through events.
• Experience in managing staff
and volunteers.
• B.A. or comparable degree.
Experience: Minimum 5 years.
